Google Adwords tracks domains across different Accounts
I already wrote about this topic under a different angle. I had a great PPC campaign going last year and was suddenly Google-slapped with $10.00 minimum bids. No matter what I had tried, I was not successful to re-activate the domain. I had previously spent an average of $0.07 per click and for a $1.00 investment I earned $2.35 upon a single conversion. That Google-Slap killed quite some income for me.
I talked to a friend about this today and just for the heck of it we decided to see if we could setup a successful campaign using his Google Adwords account. I had all the data – why not use it again. Well, we did not even get to the point to turn on the campaign.
Inside the Adwords control panel while building the campaign we used the traffic estimator and were immediately greeted with a $10.00 minimum bid.
So, if you have a domain name that is Google-slapped and you cannot get it back to normal bid-prices in Adwords, don’t bother moving it to a different account. Once the domain is brand marked as “bad”, it is done forever in Adwords. Solution: Get a new domain name, upload the files and start from scratch. Now the big question that still is open – does a domain Google-slapped inside Adwords is also earmarked as “bad” for search engine traffic. I have not yet really looked at it, but it might be worth doing so. I’ll keep you posted.
