Google Adwords tracks domains across different Accounts

I already wrote about this topic under a different angle. I had a great PPC campaign going last year and was suddenly Google-slapped with $10.00 minimum bids. No matter what I had tried, I was not successful to re-activate the domain. I had previously spent an average of $0.07 per click and for a $1.00 investment I earned $2.35 upon a single conversion. That Google-Slap killed quite some income for me.

I talked to a friend about this today and just for the heck of it we decided to see if we could setup a successful campaign using his Google Adwords account. I had all the data – why not use it again. Well, we did not even get to the point to turn on the campaign. :( Inside the Adwords control panel while building the campaign we used the traffic estimator and were immediately greeted with a $10.00 minimum bid.

So, if you have a domain name that is Google-slapped and you cannot get it back to normal bid-prices in Adwords, don’t bother moving it to a different account. Once the domain is brand marked as “bad”, it is done forever in Adwords. Solution: Get a new domain name, upload the files and start from scratch. Now the big question that still is open – does a domain Google-slapped inside Adwords is also earmarked as “bad” for search engine traffic. I have not yet really looked at it, but it might be worth doing so. I’ll keep you posted.
