I Got Hit by a Cadillac
I was driving home during rush hour yesterday when this Cadillac slammed into my car because the driver was distracted trying to make a lane change. This really sucks because my car (2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee) has not even 3,000 miles driven yet. So, we both get out of our cars and I mention that this pretty much a brand-new vehicle and all the other driver has to say is: ” But this is a Cadillac.” pointing towards his vehicle. “Well” I said “it is a Cadillac indeed. It is a Cadillac that will not drive you home tonight.” The Caddy was damaged pretty bad. The hood was pushed in quite a bit. The radiator broke and the entire content was already on the highway pavement. I am not sure how bad the damage to my Jeep is at the moment. It was dark when it happened and all I see right now is a minor to moderate dent in the bumper. The bumper has to be taken off first to see if there is any damage to the car body. I have to go outside later on and take some pictures to post them here.
At least nobody got hurt which is a good thing and the driver of the Cadillac showed valid insurance. So, I hope it is now just administrative stuff that I have to take care of to get it fixed. The other driver was cited for careless driving and will probably have to go to court. I guess the additional decrease in value of my Jeep is something I have to accept (I don’t really feel like dragging this thing to a civil court - unless the damage is much worse than I am anticipating currently). Has anyone experience with that?
