Quality Score Improvements
My first test campaigns have done their work and I identified a main group of keywords that produce large number of impressions and eventually click-thrus to my landing pages. My landing pages have been modified and optimized (more on how and why in a later blog posting). I purchased a new, keyword-enriched domain name and uploaded the latest versions of my pages. The I grabbed the keywords I identified earlier and created brand-new campaigns and new ads in Google Adwords. Now I just started going through all the different ad groups to check my work and to verify the Adwords Quality Score for each keyword. I guess my work has been paying of. On my old landing pages and keyword lists I was mainly scoring great Quality Scores with $0.04 as the lowest minimum bid price. Now I am seeing $0.03 for the lowest minimum bid in some cases. I consider that a significant change and a major milestone in my crusade to become a master in pay per click advertising.
The plan for the next few days is to test the new, modified landing page design and my ad copy. If I can write some better ads that attract better click-through rates, I would be extremely happy and thrilled. Unfortunately I feel like a lonesome ranger in this field as not many of my webmaster friends do Pay Per Click advertising and I would hate sharing too much of my work with people I don’t know.
So, I guess I have to bite bullet and do my own testing and hope to hit gold sooner or later.
In this case I am concentrating on one single affiliate program. I do have some conversions and think that the program is converting average to good. With the knowledge I am gaining here I can move forward and tackle more affiliate programs soon. I am waiting for the tax return related programs to go live and to spend a lot of time working on those.
